Gold for Good!

David Katz, a local expert in precious metals, gave a short presentation on gold and silver, breaking down what carat weights mean, and translating the marks we commonly see on jewelry and silver ware.

Our August meeting took a departure from the norm, but like all our meetings, we walked away with some newfound knowledge – this time about gold and silver. As a bonus, we were able to add to the scholarship coffers, as well!

Members were also invited to bring all their broken necklaces, orphaned earrings and other no longer wanted jewelry. David evaluated each piece, provided quotes and purchased items on the spot from members. He donated 10% of his purchases to our scholarship fund, and many members donated 10% of money they received from the sale of their old things as well. It was a true win win!

Our hostess Nancy kept the glittery theme going, creating a beautiful table for our snacks.
